Autumn Lipsticks

Brrr! There’s definitely a chill in the air, and leaves on the ground. Autumn is fast approaching!

I definitely love this time of year. It’s still sunny and warm, but chilly enough to require a light jacket. The nights are starting to draw in, so it’s the time to crack out those Lush bath bombs, make yourself a hot chocolate and get cosy in front of a good TV show.

The best thing about Autumn coming is berry lipsticks. There’s nothing more I like than putting on a berry purple or Oxblood red lipstick. This year, I’m mixing it up a little with more brick and coffee toned lipsticks. Here’s my pick of lipsticks for Autumn 2016:

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet (£7.99, shade Nude-ist) – Anyone who reads my blog knows I have a big thing for these matte lipsticks, and this is another shade I have in my collection. It is a gorgeous dusky pink/brown nude, perfect for that late Autumn sunshine. These have to be some of the comfiest matte liquid lipsticks around, with a whole range of nude shades, that make them wearable all year round.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick (£7.49 , shade Rich Raisin Frost) – I don’t own many Revlon lipsticks, so couldn’t comment on how this one compares to other ranges they have, but these cream lipsticks are lovely and long lasting, with great pigmentation. This shade is a brown toned red that looks lovely with a gold eyeshadow. It’s incredibly light to wear, and I don’t find it bleeds with use (a common thing with cream lipsticks).

Revlon Matte Balm (£7.99, shade Fiery Flamboyant) – This is actually something my sister brought, but didn’t like the shade on her skin so gave it to me, and I love it! It’s a berry toned red, but is more wearable than other berry toned lipsticks I own as it isn’t a completely matte coverage. It wears more like a tinted lip balm, so feels very light and moisturising on the lips, but has a very intense pigmentation, more so than a tinted lip balm. There are also a great, varied shade range, so I would definitely recommend taking a look at what’s available, even if berry tones aren’t for you. The peppermint scent is pleasant and the crayon-like packaging super handy for travel. A complete winner!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (£5.50, shade Copenhagen) – I brought this in a recent NYX haul specifically for the Autumn months, and I am not disappointed with this decision. This is a beautiful berry toned purple, that is soft and easy on the lips despite being a matte. I’ve raved about these liquid lipsticks for ages, and this is no exception. Sometimes matte lipsticks can be a little patchy, especially in liquid format, but this is buildable and pigmented in colour, and feels very comfortable to wear. This shade is completely perfect for those frosty Autumn months where you definitely need a scarf and woolly hat.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick, metallized finish (£23.00, shade Amulet) – GORGEOUS! My husband brought me some Urban Decay Lipsticks for my birthday (more on that later) and I was excited for these metallized shades. I don’t own any lipsticks with this formula, and I know on payday I’m going to take a look at the rest of the shade range. The formula is this intense, highly covering and highly pigmented creamy lipstick, with this beautiful true brown shade. The metallized finish provides a shimmer effect, without being overly glittery. The shade is gorgeous for a daytime look, a true brown colour with an almost pinkish sheen to it. Lovely.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick, cream finish (£23.00, shade Rosewood) – This is a pearlised pink/brown shade. I’m not a big cream lipstick fan – I much prefer a matte lip – but these have all the staying power of a matte. Again, as with most Urban Decay products this is highly pigmented, and you get a good full coverage with one swipe. It’s right on trend with a 90s lip, but also perfect for a crisp Autumn morning.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Mosse (£5.49, shade 30) – A traditional berry toned purple, which looks great for the Autumn and Halloween season. I did a recent review on this collection here, and love wearing this shade this time of year. This is actually my second tube in this shade, as I wore my first one so much.
