Tony Moly Sheet Face Mask Review

I do love sheet masks. For added convenience and simplicity, they’re great for weekly usage. I’ve tried a fair few different brands, but I have to say a newly discovered favourite are Tony Moly Sheet Masks.

They are sold through Sephora, but a little birdie tipped me off to the ones sold VIA Amazon. More on that later…

Firstly, for those of you that may not know, a sheet mask is exactly that – a cotton or fibre sheet soaked in a serum. You simply remove the sheet from the packaging, and gently place it onto freshly washed skin. Leave for as long as you like, although I’d recommend a minimum of 30 minutes, then simply remove and pat in any excess product. It’s great as part of an evening skincare routine, or as a solo procedure for any general skin complaints.

So, Tony Moly Sheet Masks come in 11 varieties (yes, 11) and cover a whole range of different Skincare needs, from the basic hydration and nourish, to purify and brightening. The packaging is amazing, they’re affordable and easy to use. Listed below are the different combinations, and my thoughts on them:

Aloe Vera: moisturising – If I had to pick an absolute favourite, this would be it. It makes my skin feel so hydrated and plump afterwards, especially perfect for those cold winter months when your skin feels tight and dry. It’d also be the one I’d take on holiday for use after a long flight, to take away that dryness from artificial heating systems in planes. It feels very clean and fresh on the skin, and I think it would suit all skin types.

Avocado: nutrition – Again, another personal favourite that leaves my skin soft and radiant and hydrated. If, like me, you find that your skin sometimes looks tired and dull, then this one’s the one for you. It doesn’t smell overly avocado-like (I find they can sometimes smell a little ‘earthy’) but instead smells fresh and clean. Perfect for a summers day; I can imagine this would be great to soothe sunburnt skin.

Broccoli: vitality – I know what you’re thinking. “A broccoli Mask? I don’t even like eating it, yet alone wearing it!” I was the same; I remember seeing this one and thinking it’ll sit in the back of my draw unused, but it is surprisingly useful. I find it exceptionally good at absorption; if I’m having a really oily skin day this is the one I’ll reach for. It just seems to mattify my skin and make it feel fresher. Great for any unwanted breakouts.

Lemon: brightening – This one smells lovely. I’m not a fan of artificial lemon scents, but this smells like sweeties. And holy cow does it brighten! My face looked positively glowing after a 15 minute application! If you’re suffering from dull skin, this is the one you need!

Makgeolli: purifying –  Very similar to the broccoli one, this one felt mattifying. If you have oily skin, it will make your skin feel lighter and fresher. People with dry skin may want to avoid – my sister has dry skin and she said this one made her skin feel tight and dehydrated. I wouldn’t say my skin felt cleansed after I used it, but definitely felt less oily than before.

Pomegranate: elasticity – I have a pomegranate toner which is best suited to mature skin, so those of you with tired, dehydrated skin would love this. Easily the most hydrating of the bunch, my complexion felt clear and radiant, and much more youthful. It almost had a plumping quality to it, perfect for a little pick-me-up after a hard day at work or a long journey on a plane/train/car etc. Although not my absolute favourite, this is probably my most used.

Red wine: pore care – This is the BEST mask for balancing oily skin! It definitely clears your complexion and helps control pores with out completely ‘stripping’ your skin the way a chemical peel would. It didn’t reduce my pores, but definitely made them feel cleaner. Also, thankfully it doesn’t smell of red wine either; no-one wants to rock up to school or work the next day smelling of stale wine!

Rice: clear skin – This was the most soothing of the bunch. It had an almost cooling effect that would be perfect for sunburn or easily irritated skin, especially useful for the repair of damaged skin. Definitely a Mask worth keeping a supply of.

Seaweed: purifying – This was another cooling mask, that both soothed and hydrated my skin. It also evened out my skin tone, so again would be great for sunburn or breakouts, or even post-workout. It made my skin feel light, but overall would be more suited to dry skin. Still a good one to have, but not as suited to my skin type as some of the others.

Tea tree: soothing – Tea Tree Oil is just a winner for breakouts. No only does it reduce any inflammation, but it takes away any irritation and redness too. And this Mask does exactly that. I have a feeling that this would be especially useful to anyone suffering from acne-prone skin; I keep a supply in stock for any nasties that appear through the course of my week. It reduces the appearance of acne and blemishes, whilst removing any current irritation or redness. Perfect.

Tomato: radiance –  Perfect for a generic, middle of the week pick-me-up. It makes your skin feel healthy and refreshed, like you’ve just had the best nights sleep and downed a litre of water in one go. Another great one to keep in stock for a mid-week pampering.

Ok, so onto the costing. Now, Amazon sell these little beauties at £10.96 for all 11, or a massive bargain at £23.99 for 33 (3×11 masks).

However, not all masks will suit all skin needs and requirements, so buying all 11 may not be the best option. You can also find these masks individually on EBay, with prices starting from £1.99. This is a much better option if you only want to try them before committing to a whole bunch; or if, like me, you want to stock up on a few more of your favourites.

Like I’ve said in a previous blog post, I use sheet masks at least 3/4 times a week as they are so easy and more convenient than a clay or liquid mask. And generally speaking, my skin has never felt or looked better. I use all of these masks in one form or another, and find they work really well for seasonal needs.

So there you have it! Some cheap and affordable sheet masks that are perfect for you everyday skin complaints, and do one hell of a job!

Let me know in the comments what you thought and any future product recommendations, and please like and share this post with your friends and family!
