It feels like ages since I did a haul! As I’ve been on maternity leave, money has been a little tight and I haven’t had as much disposable income as I usually have. Still, all work and no play… you still need a little treat every now and then 😉
FeelUnique had an offer on where you spend £40 on Nars products and get a free mini Orgasm blush, so I thought I’d treat myself to some Nars lipsticks. I’ve only ever had Nars blushes and an eyeshadow duo, but I’ve heard good things about the lipsticks, and as they were reduced I thought I’d give them a try.
The first one I got was Nars Semi Matte Lipstick (£21.00) in the shade Scarlett Empress. This is a gorgeous deep purple shade that I was a little unsure about in case it was too dark, but I really like it. When it’s on, it is more of a purple/raspberry shade, and the semi matte finish means it has the opacity of a matte lipstick, but the wearability of a cream lipstick. It had a very good pigmentation, and lasted most of the day (with eating, drinking etc) with a few minor touch ups.
Te packaging has a lovely matte finish and feels quite weighty, although the click lid feels a little cheap for the money you pay (Just a silly observation!)
The good reviews I’ve heard about this lipstick are true to form, and it is a great lipstick to have in your collection. It feels very luxurious and quality to wear – as it should for the price point! Nars lipsticks aren’t something I will buy all the time as they are very pricey, but if ever I come into a bit more money I’ll definitely treat myself to some more again!
The second one I brought was Nars Audacious Lipstick in the shade Charlotte (£24.00, now sold out). This is a cream formulation that aims for a ‘one stroke, full coverage wear’ that is long lasting. This is a more traditional oxblood red/berry toned lipstick that I just LOVE this time of year.
Now, I am definitely a liquid lipstick kinda gal and have practically lived in these all summer, but it has recently become very cold and my lips have started to dry (despite all attempts to prevent this!) so I find myself leaning more towards the semi matte and cream formulas lately.
And boy does this Lipstick live up to its promise! With one swipe you get complete opacity with a tremendous pigmentation, and the formula is so creamy and comfortable it barely feels like you’re wearing anything! It actually gives a better coverage than the first Lipstick, and feels more comfortable to wear.
The packaging feels very luxurious and high end, with the magnetic closure a nice touch. Despite being slightly more than the first, if I had to buy any Nars lipsticks in the future, this collection is what I would go for.
Finally, I also brought an Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (£17.50) in the shade Light Warm. Again, this is something I’ve heard a lot about but never had the chance to try, and so far I really like it. Despite being a very full coverage, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and I haven’t noticed any creasing in the undereye area. The shade match was pretty close too, and there are quite a number of shades to choose from so I feel more skin tones would be covered here. (the swatch was on my hand so doesn’t look as good! Does anyone else have strangely tanned hands compared to everywhere else? I don’t wear fake tan either!)
This is a really quality product, and I usually struggle to find a concealer that doesn’t crease over the course of the day or fade, and this did neither. A lot more than I’d normally spend on a concealer, but I was impressed!
And that’s my mini haul! I love trying new products that I haven’t had before, so thought I’d take the opportunity to share with you my recent finds.
Let me know any products you’ve recently tried, and whether you’d recommend them or not.
Keep on smiling!
