Party season is here! Christmas parties are probably the best kind of parties; everyone’s in high spirits; you’re due to finish work or school for a few days of eating and drinking everything in sight. And let’s not forget the chance to spend time relaxing with friends and family.
This is probably my go-to party look for this time of year. It’s probably the only time I wear sparkly eye shadows, so I like to make the most of it!
So, as I know I’m going to be having a few drinks, maybe a little dance, I like to use a reliable primer and for me, that’s the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer. This stuff does not let your makeup budge. And as it’s matte, it does a good job at keeping any excess shine away. I also like to combine this with a mattifying foundation, so I use the MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation in the shade NC20. I tend to leave my foundation to after the eyes, as it gives me a chance to be a little messy with the shimmery eye shadow, so I can clean it up later.
I start by using Wedge (A mid brown shade) from my trusty MAC palette to run through the crease, which I then darken with Charcoal Brown. I then use Deep Damson, which is a lovely matte plum shade. Blend, blend, blend! Once the base is complete, I bring out the heavy artillery! Using my Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Hypnotise kit in the shades On the Prowl I press this all over the lid, and use a clean blending brush to make sure it’s all smokey. This is a GORGEOUS purple colour with a noticeable shimmer. I love that this is almost a Duo chrome shadow, as it seems to change from purple to silver depending on the angle. I then use those same MAC shades on the lower lash line, and blend until they’re all combined.
I use the eye liner than comes in the kit, in the shade Supernova, which is an amethyst/aubergine colour. I’ve never seen an eyeliner in this colour, and it perfectly compliments the shadow. I love using these shades in the winter period; as I have green eyes these purple and plum shades enhance the colour. I tend to do a slight wing, and then smudge it slightly to get a more smoky effect.
Eyes done for now, I complete my foundation and move onto concealer. I’ve been loving my Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer in the shade light, as this has a really good coverage and doesn’t crease at all on me. I usually set this with the yellow powder in the Makeup Revolution Pro Contour palette, and dust Rimmel Stay Matte powder in the shade translucent over the rest of my face. I then use the Makeup Revolution palette to contour also.
Skipping Blush because I’ll have a bright lip, I apply two coats of Too Faced Better than Sex mascara, and finish with Guerlain Rouge G De Guerlain lipstick in shade 45.
I love this look because it looks festive but also quite sexy at the same time. It’s also fairly easy as it’s a little more smokey, which means it can be a little more ‘messy’ and smudged.
