What a month! It seemed to completely fly by amongst all the chocolates and wrapping paper, and now that’s it for another year! This is my first back to business post of 2017, and I’d like to wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
As I was so busy throughout December, I’ve got quite a few new products to talk about that I used constantly throughout this month, that have swiftly become firm favourites. I like testing out new products and brands, especially when they become staples to my daily routines.
Without further ado, here we go!
Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick, shade Melted Ruby (RRP £19.00, Debenhams) – I like to try different liquid lipsticks in the search for one that’s completely comfortable to wear, non drying and doesn’t go flaky, and I think I’ve found it. This is a strange product; it is a liquid lipstick, and it is literally liquid. It’s almost like putting coloured water onto your lips, but holy cow what pigmentation! The one I have is a GORGEOUS blue toned red that I got to wear on Christmas Day. The formula is extremely runny, and is applied through a sponge tip (Not too keen on how hygienic this may be, not going to lie…) but once dry, lasts All. Day. I don’t like the application, and it definitely takes practice to stop it bleeding, but the product is worth it. I haven’t used a lip liner with this yet – that might help application – but I will definitely be buying more of these.
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Pan in the shade Creme Brule (RRP £6.00, Beauty Bay) – I’ve seen these being used quite frequently, and heard about how pigmented they are, so I treated myself to a few and think I may be in love. These are probably the best single Eyeshadows I’ve ever had; the pigmentation is incredible, they last all day, look beautiful and are way more affordable than MAC. My only gripe is the colour selection isn’t as great as MAC, but he quality is incomparable. I’ve used them every day and I’m already looking at buying more for a large Z-palette.
Collection Highlight and Sculpt Contour Palette (RRP £2.99, Boots) – This is a little GEM! I saw another blogger rave about it and I had to give it a go, and boy I am pleased that I did! This is PERFECT for absolutely everything; it’s the perfect shade for work as it’s not too intense, but easily could be used for a more dramatic look. I also like it because it’s matte, and is slightly cooler toned. The highlight looks incredibly natural; if you like something a little more luminous and obvious then this highlight may not be for you, but i think it’s perfect for a natural effect. It isn’t overly shimmery or bright, but looks nice on pale skin – again, very suitable for work. It has to be said, though, that the best thing about this product is the price – £2.99 for such a great little set!
NYX Professional Makeup Lush Lash Mascara in shade Badunkadunk (RRP £6.50, Boots) – This is a late addition to my December favourites, as I received this off my Mom for Christmas, but holy cow what a mascara! I have used this every single day, no word of a lie. It has quickly replaced my Better than Sex mascara as my favourite. It has a massive thick wand, which gives great volume and coverage, the mascara itself is extremely dark, and it lasts all day. I don’t find this very clumpy, and the volume I get reminds me of the Too Faced mascara I love. The best thing about this is the price – I will definitely be repurchasing.
The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Face Mask (RRP £15.00, The Body Shop) – I’ve written a review of this previously, but it seems that this month I’ve used it non stop. As December is party season, and you tend to wear a lot of makeup during this time, I like to let my skin breathe whenever I can, and this Mask is perfect for that. I love the way this Mask makes my skin tingle when I first put it on; it has a slightly warming effect that feels like my pores are really being cleaned, and the slightly gritty texture is great for exfoliating too. My skin feels so clean and fresh after use, and I swear there’s a noticeable difference in how healthy it looks at the moment (quite an achievement with all the junk you eat at Christmas!)
Heaven Skincare Cleanse and Foam Wash (RRP £37.oo, heavenskincare.com) – I was extremely lucky to be sent a wonderful little package from Heaven Skincare, through a competition that I entered on Twitter. I’m doing a more in-depth review of all the products later this month, however this little beauty is my favourite from the whole set. I have literally used this every single day since receiving it. I tend to use the foam wash after Micellar water to remove any remaining residue from my makeup; similar to a hot-cloth makeup remover, I lather it onto my skin and then rinse it off with warm water and a muslin cloth. I just love how soft and clean it makes my skin feel. I will go into a little more detail in the later review, but this has quickly become a firm favourite!
Bluebird Tea Co. Gingerbread Chai Tea (Prices start from £5.20, bluebirdteaco.com) – I has a sample of this in my December SourcedBox, and promptly went and brought the largest bag I could find. I am a big fan of Chai Tea in general, but this is a whole new level. The subtle flavours of ginger and cinnamon enhance the Chai flavours, and it is a refreshing and slightly sweet taste. This particular blend also happens to be their award-winning combination, and I can understand why. I have the large loose leaf pack but it also comes in teabags too. I’m very tempted to buy a couple of the teabag packs to have at work, I love this that much!
Please let me know in the comments what you have been loving this month, and don’t forget to like and share this post.
I hope you all have had a positive start to your New Year!
