April Birchbox: Unboxing and First Impressions

This is the second Birchbox I’ve received since restarting the subscription. I’m on a mission to find the best Beauty Subscription box that offers a great selection of products, variety and value for money.

I was really impressed with this months box. Not only is the packaging so gorgeous, but there’s a brilliant selection of products, that are completely different to those I received last month. Far better than the past few GlossyBoxes.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray (RRP £20.00) – This is very similar to a dry shampoo that I received in my Latest in Beauty Box, which I also loved too! I’ve never had a texturizing spray before, so I’m interested to see how it fares to a dry shampoo or those texturizing powders that you can buy. The packaging looks lovely, and the travel sized bottle is handy for the holiday season, or to keep in the bottom of your handbag. I really like the Oribe Dry Shampoo, but it is very expensive to buy, so I’m pleased that I have a second bottle.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics High Definition Powder (RRP £27.00) – This is such a small compact I thought it was an eye shadow! I cannot believe that this is the full-size product, and costs £27! It feels very creamy when swatched, and I think it would be a great product to put under the eyes to set your concealer. I love a good setting powder and am always on the look out for one that makes my makeup look flawless and doesn’t crease, so I’m looking forward to trying this out.

Baija Paris Creme Moana in Fleur de Tiare (RRP £15.90) – This smells incredible! It contains a mix of coconut out, shea and cupuacu butters, and jojoba wax, and feels so incredibly moisturising on my hands. I know this is a body cream, but I’d much prefer to keep this little beauty in my handbag and use it as a hand cream due to the size of the bottle. However, it smells so good and is so thick (A little will certainly go a long way!) that I may start using it on my body when I get out the shower.

Nip + Fab Colour Correcting Concealer (RRP £8.95) – I really like Nip+Fab body products, but I’ve never tried any of their makeup before, so this will be interesting to use! I did a post on colour correcting concealers here, so it’s something I’ve been experimenting with for a while. I’m not sure about the fibre tip; I’ve found these quite difficult to work with in the past as they can get all dried up and then the product comes bursting through suddenly, but this felt very nice when swatched, and sank nicely into the skin to create a real brightening effect.

Polaar IcePure Gentle Scrub with Arctic Cotton (RRP £23.50) – I have no idea what Arctic Cotton, so I couldn’t possibly say what it is supposed to do, but I’m interested to find out! I’m assuming as a scrub it gently exfoliates the skin, and the cotton may make it super soft? Who knows, I’ll have to let you know.

I really enjoyed receiving the products in this months box, especially the colour correcting concealer. I’m really enjoying receiving Birchbox at the moment, and I’m excited to see what the next few months bring!

  1. Hey, I’m just curious. Do you think Birchbox is actually worth the money? I know you receive a fair few items each month, but I’m wondering if they are things that are actually used, or kind of try once and then abandon to the back of the shelf-type items. I’ve been thinking about joining for a while, but I thought I’d ask several opinions first!

P.S I loved this post! Such good quality writing and pictures 🙂

    1. Thank you for reading! There are months when I think it is worth the money and I use all the products, and then others where it’s a waste of money. I’m trialling Birchbox because I had GlossyBox for quite a while but it went downhill in terms of products received, and I’ve been impressed so far! Xx
