April GlossyBox Unboxing and First Impressions

This was supposed to be it for my Glossybox! I said last month that I was going to cancel them if the quality of the boxes didn’t improve and I stand by it! I was so impressed with this month’s Birchbox, but there’s no way I can justify receiving two beauty subscription boxes, so I HAVE to make a decision on which one to cancel.

Elgon Deliwash Cleansing Conditioner (RRP £14.50, elgoncosmetic.com) – This is a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner that is supposed to cleanse hair without stripping too many of the natural oils away, whilst conditioning and protecting. What interested me about this was the fact it is supposed to enhance the curls of those with an afro or corkscrew curls, leaving them frizz free. My natural hair is naturally curly; it dries with a beachy wave which looks gorgeous, but I find it so much more difficult to maintain! If I can find something to keep it looking wavy and not frizzy – it’s a winner with me!

SportFX Definition Duo Eyeliner Pencil (RRP £9.99, sportFX.com) – From what I gather, this is supposed to be an eyeliner that can be worn in the gym due to its waterproof formula. Now, it’s been a while since I was a member of a gym, but I didn’t really like wearing makeup when working out. That being said, a waterproof eyeliner is always handy when on the lower lash line to stop it transferring. I like the idea of this eyeliner as it is dual ended, and has a brown eyeliner on end and a black the other end. Novel! Especially handy for travelling!

Modelco Contour Stick (RRP £17.00, modelcocosmetics.com) – I’ve got a few contour sticks, and I have to confess I’m not massively keen. Maybe it’s just my application, but I always find them to look a little muddy on the skin, and definitely don’t look as natural as a powder contour. I actually like using these as an eye shadow, blended into the crease or on the lower lash line; it adds definition and looks natural. I’ll give it a try as a contour stick, but it’ll probably fit forgotten in my makeup drawer.

Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL (RRP £24.00, rodial.co.uk) – I love trying new mascaras, so this was a welcome addition! This appears to be jet black, and the thickness of the wand means that I’m going to get some nice volume from this too.

Merci Handy Love and Hand Cleansing Gel (RRP £2.90, en.mercihandy.com) – A hand gel is always a useful thing to have on you if you commute to work, or if you have a small child around. This is a tiny bottle, though! I was surprised to read that this was a full size product! I’m going to go through this so quickly!

I was pleased to receive the eyeliner and mascara, but other than that I was a little disappointed with the rest of the products. Again.

I’ve decided that this is going to be my last Glossybox for a while. I’ve found that the quality and selection of products has declined since I first started having them, and I don’t find them worth the money at the moment. I’m going to try Birchbox for a while and see how I get on with them; who knows, I may return to Glossybox eventually, but I’ve been having them for over a year and want to try something new.
