I am so pleased that we can now buy Kat Von D products in the UK! I asked my Sister to pick me up the Shade Light Eye shadow palette a few years ago when she went to New York, and it is probably my most used palette as I wear it to work daily, but I am so excited that I get the chance to add a few more of her products to my collection!
On a recent shopping trip I picked up one of the Studded Lipsticks in the shade Hexagram, which is a gorgeous blue toned dark red. In picture swatches it looks a lot more raspberry toned, but in the flesh it’s a lot deeper than I anticipated.
I absolutely love the packaging; the studded look gives it a really edgy look, especially fitting for its rock and roll image whilst still feeling high-end and quality. For £17, they aren’t much more money than MAC or Urban Decay, but they feel very luxurious and expensive.
I’ve heard that these lipsticks can be a little difficult to wear; I’ve read that they can be a little drying and difficult to apply, but I have to say I haven’t had this issue. It applied very smoothly and felt comfortable for a matte lipstick. I did find that this particular lipstick clung to dry patches on your lips, so I’d recommend using a lip scrub before applying to ensure you don’t have this issue. I’m not sure is this is the same with other shades, but I’ll let you know should I purchase any more soon.
In terms of longevity, it lasted All. Freaking. Day. Seriously, I applied it in the morning before I left the house, and it lasted right through until I came to take my makeup off. Yes, it did fade slightly, but it looked even and more like a stain on the lips. And that was with eating and drinking, too. I did notice a slight bleeding in the corners of my mouth, but a little concealer and a lip liner would help stop that.
Overall I’m a big fan of these lipsticks, and am already eyeing up a couple more that I want to try. They are a little pricey, but the pigmentation and long-lasting formula makes them a winner in my book.
