My Summer Makeup Bag

There’s nothing better than being able to put on a little tinted moisturizer, a flash of mascara and a pair of sunnies and go. I love that minimal bronzed glow that you get from fresh air and sunshine, and I especially love keeping it simple and natural when it comes to my makeup for this season.

When it comes to my base, I definitely like to keep it natural. For the day, I tend to stick to a CC cream or tinted moisturiser (Or sometimes just a little concealer!) with a powder finish to stop myself looking oily. I really love these Body Shop Instaglow CC Creams in the shade Peachy Glow (RRP £15.00). This little beauty minimises the appearance of pores (My biggest worry!), reduces shine and moisturises for up to 24 hours. I also love the fact that it contains SPF 20 to protect your skin against the suns rays. It just acts as a base to make my skin a little better in regards to the pigmentation, but also allows it to look very natural and healthy. It isn’t heavy or uncomfortable to wear in the Summer heat, which is a bonus! I also tend to stick to my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent powder (RRP £3.99) to set my face. This stuff is great for keeping your face oil and shine free, but isn’t expensive.

The biggest thing about Summertime is having that healthy bronzed glow from being in the sun. As I actually don’t like spending too long in the sun because of potential sun damage, I like to create this illusion with a little bit of bronzer. I especially love Benefit Hoola Bronzer (RRP £24.50) – a classic! I love it because it isn’t shimmery and creates such a natural healthy flush of colour to the cheeks. I don’t find it too warm or too cool for my skin tone, and I love the way it blends on the skin. I’m quite excited to try the Hoola Lite when I can get my hands on it! Another bronzing fave is my Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in the shade Sun Kissed. This has a lovely matte finish to it, and is also great for contouring too.

I like to keep my eyes fairly neutral, so tend to just use a mid brown toned shadow in the crease. I absolutely love using Makeup Geek shadows (RRP £6.00); Cocoa Bear and Creme Brule are my favourites at the moment. I finish this with a brown eyeliner on the upper and lower lash line to add a little definition, and then just finish with mascara. My favourites at the moment are the L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Hippie Mascara and the L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara (RRP £7.99). I just can’t decide which one I prefer! Miss Hippie gives me great volume and thickness to my lashes, whilst Miss Manga creates amazing length!

Finally, my favourite part about Summer Makeup looks is the lipsticks! I just love wearing bright, vibrant corals and pinks during the summer months. I absolutely love Topshop Lipstick in the shade Brighton Rock (RRP £8.00), which is a gorgeous fuchsia pink shade. Rimmel also do some fab coral colours; pictured are The Only One Lipstick in the shade 610 Cheeky Coral and The Only One Matte Lipstick in 120 Call the Shots. Colourpop Lippie Stix come in such a wide and varied shade range; there’s plenty of coral colours. Two that I own are Poppin‘ – a deep raspberry pink and Fetch – a lighter, Barbie pink satin.
