Kiehls are a brand that are relatively new to me. They’ve been around for a fair old while, but up until recently, I hadn’t tried any of their products. When I was looking for new facial creams, I happened to stumble across their Midnight Recovery oil – which I now love – and a gateway has been opened for me.
I like trying different eye creams to try to tackle dark under eye circles and early signs of aging (Lets face it, I’m 28, this was bound to happen someday). So when I read positive reviews about their wrinkle reducing eye cream, I thought I’d give it a go.
Granted, the £39.99 price tag brought a tear to my eye, but this is the price that you pay to hang onto your youth (at least, this is what I keep telling myself). However, you get a large 50ml pot for your money, and as you only need to apply a small amount to your under eye area, this is bound to last you a lifetime.
I toyed with the idea of getting Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado for the same price, but decided on this due to positive claims that it helps eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, something that I’m becoming increasingly paranoid of. I may try this one next.
This particular cream is formulated with a whole variety of nutrients, including Copper PCA and Calcium PCA, which is supposed to significantly reduce the appearance or wrinkles, smoothing skin texture and improving the firmness and elasticity by 19.75%. It also contains an SPF 30 for UVA/UVB protection, which is something I think is very important for skin care.
Despite the scary sounding ingredients, this was surprisingly cooling and gentle when applied to my under eyes. It sinks incredibly easily into the skin when applied, and didn’t leave my skin feeling greasy or oily. It also didn’t irritate my eyes, as this is something that I find eye creams can do if they are to ‘chemical-like’. This was completely fragrance free also, which helped add to the ease of use.
And I have to say that there has been a difference in my under eye area since using this. The skin here feels so soft and nourished, and not at all dry. I also think that it looks visibly softer, also; the fine lines that were starting to appear and causing a problem with concealer have started to disappear – not in their entirety, but they definitely look ‘blurred’ and more airbrushed. My concealer is applying better too; there is a definite decrease of product settling into these lines. I wouldn’t say that it particularly helps with the elimination of large pores, but my fine lines do appear reduced.
It is also a very thick cream, and doesn’t require a lot of product to get a good coverage. Again, this will help in making it last longer.
I really liked this cream and will definitely be willing to buy it again, although I would be keen on trying more of Kiehls products available first. Yes, £39.99 is incredibly steep, but it is a worthwhile product that provided clear results, so is very definitely worth the money you pay.
