There are so many things to like about fall. Pumpkin spice everything, layers and layers of clothes to express the fashionista within and, of course, all the dark colors – because we all have a touch of vampy on the inside. And even if the weather gets cold and rainy, you have every excuse to curl up under a blanket with a hot cup of tea and re-watch your favorite show.
But how does our beauty routine change with fall and what are the things we should be considering when the cold winds come around?
It’s time to say goodbye to the superlight moisturizers for summer, and hello to something more serious. We all know that you should moisturize all year round, but when the weather gets colder and the winds stronger, your skin suffers more. Use creamy moisturizers that feel good on your skin, even if it means waiting a few minutes longer for it to soak in. Don’t neglect the rest of your body, and apply a moisturizer or body milk all over your body after every shower. Add a hand cream, lip balm or a multipurpose Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream into your bag and carry it with you at all times for on-demand moisturising, no matter where you are.
Bring in the autumn shades
There are so many wonderful shades in fall, so there is no better way to up your makeup routine than to follow in Mother Nature’s footsteps. Try incorporating a lot of warm tones into your makeup, outfits and even your hair. Swap the glittery, bright summer eyeshadow palettes for pearly toned taupes, browns, nudes and lattes.
Go for a pearl finish on your highlighter and blush, rather than a shiny one, and switch to warmer shades of bronzer. Remember that, because you are losing your summer tan, you might need to adjust your foundation and contour shades. Get out all of those dark lip tones that you have stored away, and start playing with them.
If you don’t want a dark color on your lips, a matte, warm nude will work just fine as well. If you want a more drastic change, consider dyeing your hair in a warm brown, latte ombré or sweet chocolate. Paint your nails a deep burgundy and get out your favorite pair of brown boots to complete the fall palette.
Beautiful from within
There is nothing more beautiful than a happy, healthy person. But when autumn comes around, school and work kick in, and fresh fruit is all of a sudden nowhere to be found, it becomes hard to stay on top of everything. This is why it’s important to find ways to stay healthy even when it gets colder. Join a gym so you always have somewhere to work out, or get some warmer workout gear and continue working out outside in the fresh air.
If you find it difficult to include all of the important nutrients in your diet, complement it with various Solgar supplements.
