The Rapid-Fire Book Tag

Another tag post to kickstart February! Rules of the game: you have to answer questions with the first answer that comes into your head. Nice and concise; no rambling.

But you know me; I obviously have to explain the answers as I go…

E-Book Or Physical Book?
Physical books without a doubt. I go through stages of whether I use my Kindle more or an actual book, but I’ve come to the conclusion that whilst I love to take my Kindle (AKA suitcase-saver-to-avoid-taking-my-whole-library) on holiday for the convenience, nothing beats the feel or smell of a physical book. Call me a romantic…

Paperback Or Hardback?
Can’t say I have a particular favourite, really. I tend to buy paperbacks more because they’re cheaper, but I always by my favourite books in hardback.

Online Or In-Store Book Shopping?
Both. I absolutely love browsing the aisles in bookstores, but I do make a lot of purchases online because I buy them in bulk for a fraction of the price.

Trilogies Or Series?
No preference. Literally never even considered my preferences.

Heroes Or Villains?
Ooh, hard one! Depends on the type of book. I love well crafted villains, but I have to admit I always root for the good guy!

A Book You Want Everyone To Read?
Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman. I recommend this book to absolutely everyone!

Recommend An Underrated Author?
Lee Child. I’ve read a lot of his books, but I can’t say I’ve heard many people talking about him, and no one I know seems to have read his books.

The Last Book You Finished?
The Power, by Naomi Alderman.

Weirdest Thing You’ve Used As A Bookmark?
I don’t tend to use books marks all that often. I’m one of those people who folds the corner of the page down (I know, the shame!)

Used Books: Yes Or No?
Yes, 100%, but I only buy ones that are in really good condition.

Top Three Favourite Genres?
Fantasy, thriller, and drama. They’re my top three genres at the moment, and the ones I’m gravitating to the most.

The Chronicles of Narnia Book

Borrow Or Buy?
Buy… I just love owning them. But this also means that I run out of space very quickly, so I try and borrow wherever I can.

Character Or Plot?
Plot. If the plot is rubbish then there’s no point liking the characters!

Long Or Short Books?
Long, but not too long. I’ve been reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt on and off for ages, and whilst I am enjoying it, it’s so long I find it a bit of a slog after a while! It’s just so long!

Name The First Three Books You think of
The Great Gatsby, Room and We need to talk about Kevin.

Books That Make You Laugh Or Cry?
Both – as long as I’m enjoying them I don’t mind what emotions I feel.

Our World Or Fictional?
Fictional. What a stupid question!

Audio books: Yes Or No?
No. I just don’t see the appeal of them. Whenever I try listening to them I get confused and lost, or end up getting distracted and having to go back over what I’ve just listened to. The only audio books I find I can listen to are the Harry Potter books narrated by Stephen Fry, and that’s only because I’ve read the books that often I know the story well.

Do You Ever Judge A Book By Its Cover?
Of course, I do. Doesn’t everybody?

Book To Movie Or Book To TV?
Book to TV, usually. It depends on the book I suppose. With a series I always find that TV shows do them justice more. There’s more time to explore the story in a TV show than in a movie.

A Movie Or TV Show That You Preferred To The Book?
Off the top of my head I can’t think of any in particular, but there’s probably one or two.

Series Or Standalones?
Series because I can never get enough of a good thing!

There we have it! I hope you enjoyed my rapid fire book tag; feel free to tag yourself in the comments and use on your own blogs!
