I always look enviously at the bath bombs whenever I go into Lush, with all their delicious scents and colours, but as I only have a double shower at home there’s never any need for me to buy any.
During the summer I went on a family holiday where the Lodge we were staying had a large Japanese style bath, so I took full advantage of this opportunity (it doesn’t come around often) to buy a couple of bath bombs when I last visited lush for my Twilight body lotion (my absolute FAVE to use before bed!) that I could use whilst we were there.
Once we move house we’ll have a bath again, so I thought it’d be a good opportunity to try a few for ‘research’ (wink wink) that I could buy in the near future.
As this is my favourite body lotion I figured it’d be an easy place to start! I find lavender incredibly relaxing to use of an evening, and as I am an incredibly light sleeper I do find it hard to get a good nights sleep – hence why I use a lavender scented body lotion as a way of aiding a more restful night.
With a combination of lavender and ylang ylang oils, this is a strong heady scent that you can definitely smell for a prolonged period of time. Whilst strong, the lavender scent is not overpowering and creates a more creamy, subtle tone rather than dominating.
Size-wise, this bath bomb is huge and can definitely be split across two baths if you want to save a little money and get more bang for your buck.
Ickle Baby Bot (£1.95)
Now, this particular product is specially designed to aid children, both relaxing them before bedtime and gently moisturizing and cleansing delicate skin. However, it smelled so damn good that I couldn’t resist picking one up for myself too! Again lavender scented, this also contains essential chamomile and sandalwood oils which are perfect to relax the body after a long day.
However it is very small, so I don’t know how this will fare in an adult bath; specifically, it is designed for a couple of inches of water in the bottom of the tub, so any adult purchasing this for themselves may want to buy more than one to use.
Sex Bomb (£3.75)
I’m sensing a theme here… Containing ylang ylang, jasmine and clary sage, this bath bomb is designed to – you guessed it – help you unwind and clear your thoughts. Jasmine both helps you unwind and supposedly puts you in the mood (those ancient Indian aphrodisiacs!), but I can see it being more helpful to ease any stresses and anxieties of the day. As I am pregnant, I do find myself aching more than I usually do and sleeping at the moment is a nightmare, so I find I’ve been using products designed to ease any aches and pains and to aid a more restful nights sleep.
Again, this bath bomb is large so could easily be divided up to cover two baths.
This genuinely smells good enough to eat! With the top notes cocoa butter I can see this bath bomb being incredibly moisturizing for the skin, and when coupled with softer notes of ylang ylang it’ll be perfect to relax with (I told you there was a theme!)
I was also drawn to the lack of glitter or colour with this one; by keeping it simple I believe it’ll do a great job replenishing the skin and making sure it is fully hydrated. It also won’t irritate through the lack of overly perfumed ingredients, so would be ideal for anyone with more sensitive skin.
As someone who isn’t particularly au fait when it comes to Lush Bath bombs, I thought I’d play it safe with some of their more popular products as a starting point. I avoided any heavily coloured or glittery products as I stayed in a rented holiday home, and didn’t fancy scraping glitter or coloring’s off the side of the white tub! There will be plenty of time to experiment with more adventurous products later!
If you have any recommended bath bombs you think I should try, please let me know!
